We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for families and community members to participate in the Mi Casa Initiative, a cornerstone of the Prosperity Project. This new affordable housing initiative launches to serve 50 more families in Kensington.

Xiente is proud to announce the expansion of the Mi Casa Initiative, a cornerstone program of the Prosperity Project that provides quality, affordable housing to working families who have been left out of traditional housing subsidy programs in Philadelphia.

What Is the Mi Casa Initiative?

The Mi Casa Initiative addresses a critical gap in Philadelphia's housing landscape. Many working families earn too much to qualify for traditional subsidized housing, yet not enough to afford market-rate rents in neighborhoods with good schools and safe streets. Mi Casa bridges that gap by offering quality rental units at rates tied to household income.

With this expansion, Xiente will bring 50 additional affordable units online in the Kensington neighborhood — a community that has faced significant disinvestment but is home to thousands of hardworking Latino families who deserve stable, dignified housing.

How to Apply

Eligibility is open to Philadelphia families earning between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Priority is given to current Xiente program participants, veterans, and families with children enrolled in Xiente's Early Education programs.

  • Complete the online interest form at xiente.org or call (215) 634-2251
  • Attend a mandatory orientation session (held monthly in English and Spanish)
  • Submit income verification and household documentation
  • Meet with a Xiente housing counselor for a needs assessment

"Stable housing is the foundation everything else is built on. When a family has a safe, affordable home, children do better in school, parents can focus on career advancement, and the whole community becomes stronger." — Xiente Executive Director

The Mi Casa Initiative is made possible through a partnership with the Philadelphia Housing Authority, the City of Philadelphia's Division of Housing and Community Development, and generous private donors who believe every family deserves a path to prosperity.

A Broader Vision

The Mi Casa expansion is part of Xiente's broader Prosperity Project, which combines affordable housing with financial coaching, guaranteed income support, and workforce development to create comprehensive pathways out of poverty. Families enrolled in Mi Casa receive automatic referrals to Xiente's full suite of economic mobility services.
